Cara is from Edinburgh, Scotland. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of St Andrews. During her undergraduate degree, she completed a study abroad year at Western University, Ontario, Canada. She went on to complete a Master of Science in Health Economics at the University of York.
She is currently pursuing her PhD, focusing on the economic value of psychedelic therapy across different mental health conditions.
In her free time, she enjoys triathlon and baking sourdough.
Filipa Sampaio,
Principal Investigator
Filipa Sampaio is Associate Professor of Health Economics and Group Leader of Uppsala Health Economics (UHE) at Uppsala University, Sweden. Her research focuses on the economics of mental health, including the economic evaluation of preventive and therapeutic interventions. Within INTEGRATE, she contributes expertise in health economics, economic evaluation and health policy. Her work aims to understand the value of psychedelic therapies and the economic evidence needed to support their translation from research into healthcare policy and practice. Her approach to psychedelic research emphasises interdisciplinary collaboration and real-world decision making, with particular attention to affordability, reimbursement and equitable access to emerging therapies.
