Nina was born in the city of Geneva (Switzerland), where she lived and studied until she moved to pursue her academic journey abroad. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus in neurosciences from the University of Geneva, including a semester abroad at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver).
Following a year working as a psychology intern, she then completed her Master’s degree in Neuroscience at the University of Bordeaux (France) in 2025. Driven by her interest in translational neuroscience and precision psychiatry, she is currently pursuing a PhD as part of the INTEGRATE MSCA Doctoral network.
In her research project, she is investigating the molecular pathways underlying the antidepressant efficacy of psilocybin in treatment-resistant depression (TRD) at the University Medical Center Groningen (Netherlands). Whenever she is not at the lab, she can be found bouldering, hiking in the mountains, or traveling around the world.

Jens van Dalfsen,
Principal Investigator
Dr. Jens H. van Dalfsen is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Psychiatry at the University Medical Center Groningen and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Charles Perkins Centre of the University of Sydney. His research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying major depressive disorder and treatment-resistant depression, with particular interest in how antidepressant treatments may reverse these processes. Within INTEGRATE, he contributes expertise in pathophysiology and psychopharmacology. His research aims to elucidate the specific molecular pathology of treatment-resistant depression, and whether this can be engaged by traditional and novel antidepressant agents. He adopts a translational and multidisciplinary approach to psychedelic research, spanning animal and human studies in peripheral blood and postmortem brain tissue, to inform clinical decisions and biomarker development.
